TAIPEI, Taiwan – China Airlines (CAL), Taiwan’s largest airline carrier, began recruiting people Monday for 600 job openings ahead of the introduction of its new fleet and the expansion of its flight network later this year.
The 600 positions include 150 flight attendants, 120 pilots, 130 mechanics, and 100 ground staff, CAL said.
The recruitment drive is partly aimed at better preparing CAL for the delivery of a fleet that comprises three Boeing 777 aircraft, the airline said.
CAL said the expansion of its workforce will also help the company cope with increases in flight service to China and the addition of new routes between Taiwan and the Chinese cities of Changchun, Xuzhou, Hefei and Yantai in July.
The competition for spots is expected to be fierce, as earlier this year, the airline’s recruitment of 20 South Korean flight attendants drew 4,000 job applicants.
